What is Offline Poker?

The Social Game

Offline poker is about gathering around a table, reading opponents, and enjoying the camaraderie. It's a game of skill and psychology played face-to-face. Physical presence enhances the experience, with no screens or online interfaces to distract from the moment.

Entertainment, Not Gambling

At Stack and Hearth, poker is purely for fun. Chips are used for scoring, and there is no real money involved at any point. Chips are tokens for points, with no cash buy-ins or payouts. The focus stays on the game itself.

A Melbourne Tradition

Our card room revives the classic supper club vibe, blending fine dining with the thrill of the game in an elegant underground setting. Inspired by vintage poker lounges, it carries a modern Australian twist that feels both timeless and fresh.

Card Room Rules and Etiquette

Players must be 18 years or older. Age verification is required before taking a seat. Respect the dealer and other players at all times, and remember that dealer decisions are final. No outside food or drinks are permitted in the card room.

Act in turn, avoid discussing hands in play, and keep chips visible at all times. Do not splash the pot. Standard poker etiquette keeps the game moving and maintains a friendly atmosphere for everyone at the table.

Chips are used solely for scoring points. No real money is exchanged at any time, and chips have no cash value. At the end of the night, points may be tallied for bragging rights, but there are no monetary transactions.

Smart casual attire is recommended to enhance the supper club atmosphere. Avoid overly casual wear like flip-flops or gym clothes. Dressing well is part of the ritual and helps create a refined evening for all guests.

Chips Only, No Real Money

At Stack and Hearth, poker is a game of skill and fun. We use chips solely for scoring, and there is absolutely no real money, betting, or gambling. This ensures a relaxed, inclusive environment for all guests. Chips are provided free of charge, and there are no cash transactions at the table. The focus remains on social interaction and strategy rather than financial risk.

The History of Poker

Poker has roots in various card games from Europe and Persia, evolving into the modern game we know today. It has always been a social activity, with origins in 19th century America and popularization in saloons and riverboats. The game's journey reflects a love of strategy and chance.

Poker in Popular Culture

From classic films to literature, poker has been depicted as a game of wit and nerve. Our card room pays homage to this legacy, with references to famous poker scenes and an atmosphere inspired by vintage clubs. The drama of the game has always captured the imagination.

Traditions at Stack and Hearth

We honor traditions like the ceremonial shuffle, the reveal of the flop, and the camaraderie of the table. Each night ends with a toast to the winners. Special rituals during tournaments reinforce the community spirit that makes offline poker so memorable.
